Good to Know
FAQ
The questions we hear most, from what to pack to how coaching works. Still curious about something? We're only a message away.
Just a swimsuit, a towel, and sunscreen. We provide the board, wetsuit, and everything else you'll need in the water.
Not at all. If you've never stood on a board, we'll walk you through paddling, popping up, and ocean safety at your own pace — no judgment, no rush. If you've plateaued, we'll pinpoint what's holding you back and give you a clear path forward.
Private and semi-private lessons run 1.5 hours. Group lessons are arranged around your party, with one coach for every two surfers.
Along the San Diego coast — including the Encinitas and Carlsbad areas — with the exact spot chosen to match the day's conditions and your ability.
Head to Book Online, choose your lesson, pick a date and time, and add it to your cart. Good swells fill up fast, so booking ahead is the best way to lock in your date, time, and wetsuit size.
All of them. We coach kids, teens, and adults, and families are always welcome. Every lesson is tailored to the surfer in front of us, so a first-timer of eight and a returning adult get the same care at a pace that fits them.
You should be comfortable in the water, but you don't need to be an expert swimmer. Safety comes first — your coach stays close, we start in manageable conditions, and we cover ocean awareness before you ever paddle out. If you have any concerns, tell us when you book and we'll plan around them.
We watch the conditions closely and choose the safest, best spot for the day — that local knowledge is a big part of what you're booking. If the ocean isn't safe or workable, we'll reach out to reschedule your lesson at no extra charge.
As early as you can. Prime morning sessions and good swells fill up fast, so booking ahead is the best way to lock in your preferred date, time, and wetsuit size — especially on weekends and during the summer.
